Turning the waves from the beach near my house into a generative piece of music.
I find a lot of beauty and joy in taking something that exists in nature and turning it into something else. This is yet another attempt.

Amid the endless discussions on whether AI-generated material is or isn't art, Claude opened yet another possibility. What if instead of generating music with AI, I use it to create my own instrument? "sound-waves", a very boring title to a very fun project, was my most successful attempt yet.
I used Anthropic's Claude Code to build a vision pipeline that samples a live beach cam, tracks individual waves (frequency, mass, speed and displacement) and maps their behavior as MIDI input to a few digital and physical synthesizers.
You can see me turning some knobs in the video, shaping and morphing the sound, but the origin is something that I can't control or influence, just observe.
